Comp Card Size Guide
The standard comp card sizes, with the bleed, margins and pixel dimensions you need for printing.
| Format | Trim size | With bleed | 300 dpi | 300 dpi + bleed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| US comp card | 5.5 × 8.5 in (140 × 216 mm) | 5.75 × 8.75 in | 1650 × 2550 px | 1725 × 2625 px |
| EU comp card (A5) | 148 × 210 mm (5.83 × 8.27 in) | 154 × 216 mm | 1748 × 2480 px | 1819 × 2551 px |
- Bleed is 0.125 in (3 mm) on every side: extend backgrounds and full-bleed photos into it.
- Keep names and stats at least 0.25 in (6 mm) inside the trim edge so they aren't cut off.
- Export at 300 dpi in sRGB unless your printer asks for something else.

The comp card maker builds both sizes with bleed and crop marks automatically.
Which size should I use?
Use 5.5 × 8.5 in if you work mainly with US agencies and A5 for European agencies. If you're signed, ask your agency: many have a house format.
Paper
Comp cards are usually printed double-sided on heavy card (around 14–16 pt or 300–350 gsm) with a matte or satin finish.
